  • Co-founded Open Space Music in 2020, a music event series whose mission is to create a multicultural space where boundaries between artists and audience fade away​

  • Founded Asian Musical Voices of America in 2019, a platform to create community among Asians working and creating in classical music in the U.S. and to uplift BIPOC experiences within the field

  • Violinist in the Chiara String Quartet from 2000 to 2018

  • World premiere of Philip Glass’s Piano Quintet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2018​​

  • Performed the Complete String Quartets of Bela Bartok by heart at the Ravinia Festival and National Sawdust in 2016-2017

  • Artist-in-Residence with the Chiara Quartet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2015

  • Jefferson Friedman’s String Quartets, released by New Amsterdam Records, was nominated for Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Classical Composition in 2011

  • Blodgett Artists in Residency with the Chiara Quartet at Harvard University for 6 years starting in 2008

  • Launched Chamber Music in Any Chamber with the Chiara Quartet in 2007 and performed in over 50 clubs and bars across the United States.

  • Debuted at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in 2004 with a world premiere of Jefferson Friedman’s 3rd String Quartet. 

  • Lisa Arnhold String Quartet Residency at The Juilliard School mentoring with the Juilliard String Quartet in 2003-2005


  • Married to Gregory Beaver who was the cellist in the Chiara String Quartet. They worked full-time together for 18 years

  • Has two daughters Noori and Grace

  • Immigrated to U.S. from Korea when she was 7 years old and grew up in Queens, NY and Charlotte, NC. ​

  • Studied Yang style Tai-Chi​ and has been meditating regularly for close to 10 years. 

  • Gave herself the name Sol (솔), meaning pine tree in Korean, in honor of her great great grandfather who was a painter who specialized in painting Buddhist temple art and pine trees. He studied with the great Korean painter Owon (오원)
