Married to Gregory Beaver who was the cellist in the Chiara String Quartet. They worked full-time together for 18 years

Immigrated to U.S. from Korea when she was 7 years old and grew up in Queens, NY and Charlotte, NC.
Studied Yang style Tai-Chi and has been meditating regularly for close to 10 years.
Gave herself the name Sol (솔), meaning pine tree in Korean, in honor of her great great grandfather who was a painter who specialized in painting Buddhist temple art and pine trees. He studied with the great Korean painter Owon (오원)
